December 2011 ~ January 2012

CALENDAR OF EVENTS FOR THIS PERIOD

COMMANDER NEWS: In this months news I would like to talk about the upcoming deployment of the 1486th Transportation Company. As you know, many of these fine men and women have become like family to us in this Post. They will be deploying in March to Afghanistan and I would like the Post to give them a great send off, this will be one of the last contacts with this unit until their return. Our Post and various military organizations are in the process of organizing a send off for this unit, any ideas or help would be appreciated. Please keep these fine servicemen in your hearts and prayers.

As always, God Bless and thank you.
Commander Robert Maver

QUARTERMASTER NEWS: We still have some members who have not paid their 2012 dues. Remember in order to maintain being a member in good standing, you need to get those dues paid up. If you know anyone that may be eligible to join the VFW, check with them and have them stop in, they may be interested in joining. Keep in mind we pay the first year dues for regular new eligible members and also pay the dues of anyone that is on active duty. We also are still offering $50 off for a Life Membership if anyone is interested.

Quartermaster, Don Heidecker (419-526-0181)

AUXILIARY PRESIDENT NEWS:  Thank you for all who helped with the Kids Christmas Party. Ladies please mark your calendars that our meetings have been moved back to the 3rd Wednesday. We just didn’t have the attendance for the meeting being on Tuesdays. On Feb. 18, we are having a get-together for the District and either the Department President or Treasurer will be here. This is a class of administration for all the changes taking effect. Remember Mar. 5th is the Chili cook off for cancer, all welcome to bring their chili for lots of fun. March 25th is the cutoff date to sign up your kids for the Easter party.

Thank you and God Bless, President Christie Seward

AUXILIARY TREASURER NEWS:   Well sisters, it still isn’t looking good. Ladies, we still have a lot of dues not paid for 2012. This means you are not in good standing and it will affect your cancer insurance should you need it. It also means you have no privileges at the Post and are unable to attend auxiliary meetings. We need your help. Hope all have a Happy Easter.

Thank you and God Bless, Treasurer Wanda Ferrell

MEN’S AUXILIARY: Hello everyone, here we are in January. As we all know, or should know, if your dues are not paid you are not a member in good standing, so please pay your dues. The Men’s Aux. Pool Tourney will be Feb. 11th. Please sign up y 4:30pm, we will play at 5:00pm. The trophy is at stake, so all you pool players come on out, and see how you do. Please keep an eye out for any updates, or changes and as always any and all suggestions are welcome.

Thanks for all your support and God Bless, President, Jeff Mapes

CANTEEN NEWS: I hope everyone had a great holiday season. As I am sure everyone has noticed that the canteen has been slow, but hopefully they will pick up in February.
